Lessons??

It is easy to lose one’s self to someone. When you know that someone is worth everything to you…. When all the things you love are all the things that person is… then you know you are lost.

Each and everyone of us is in search of something great.. something that’s larger than life.  When we are born, we begin a journey and along the way, we end up seeking many things and while doing so there are people walkin’ and out of our lives. They become part of our memories for they somehow shared something special with us. It could be a short-lived romance, an intimate affair, a secret fact, a lifetime friendship, or it could be something else. As we move on to our destined path, we often make unwise decisions and eventually stumble.. then we become familiar with loneliness, a dark emptiness within our soul and we somehow feel like we’re just drifting aimlessly with no destination nor land in sight.. but always, there is someone who reaches out to offer us love and comfort. This person comes along and brings light to this darkness. There’s a sense of safety with this person and little by little, you let go of your defenses as an emphatic-like bond between you is formed. You learn to find beauty and contentment in simple things like a walk in the park, intimate conversations, and even quiet moments together. We soon give in to the giddy rush of love, the feeling of butterflies in our stomach and the look in our eyes that seem to glow like hot embers. And then we realize that the person we are sharing these moments is everything to us.

But in the course of every relationship, there comes a time when we love too much and we become inconsiderate of the person’s space and it kills them. Because we are so blinded with love, the other person feels trapped, pressured, and suffocated that it drives them off the wall. Sooner or later the other person drifts away from us and we start to question these actions and somehow allow the sinister of doubt and lack of trust to creep in our heart and mind. Instead of making adjustments and comprises, we let pride rule over reason and understanding which leads to headed arguments… exchange of hurtful words, and sometimes physical violence until finally, one gives up and walk away from the other. Once we realize that love is far beyond our reach, we breakdown, lash out, and blame the other for what went wrong. We lose sight of what is real and what is not but what we don’t realize is that we brought this down to ourselves and that we are responsible for our actions. This realization comes to us a little too late. too late for us to listen and understand…too late to make comprises…too late to take back what we have lost.

As victims of our own choices and misgivings, we start to understand the pain of losing someone and see for the first time that love is not about “its your fault,” but “I’m sorry,” not “where are you?” but “I’m right here,” not “how could you?” but “I understand,” not “I wish you were,” but “I’m thankful you are”. We find meaning in regret and try to face the reality that it is not easy to find someone who’d take the time to sit and talk about simple unimportant things just to make conversation… someone to hold our hand to make us feel that someone’s there for us… someone to hug and comfort us when things go wrong.. someone to kiss and say “Goodnight” too…. someone at the other end of the line who’ll kiss you back and say “I love you too”.

But then, we just have to believe and have faith that when someone walks out of our life, there’s always someone who is destined for us and is meant to stay not just for a while but also for a lifetime existence. If you truly believe in soul mates, in destiny, and in eternal love, the possibly for an honest-to-goodness love is endless. We don’t have to be looking or searching for it because it’ll happen when we least expect it to. That person may not be the one in our dreams and fantasies, and may not even measure up to our expectations but when love is right, you feel it in each others arms..you see it in each others eyes… You taste it in each others kiss. It doesn’t matter if the person isn’t perfect as long as the intensity  of  love is greater and larger than life, that person will always be an exception for true love doesn’t recognize superficial attributes but the sincerity and intimacy between two people. Its when that someone makes your knees go weak and cause you to catch your breath or may even leave a lasting impression in your mind after you meet for the first time.

As a lesson, people must teach their heart to be brave. Brave enough to hold on when things go wrong and brave enough to let go when things aren’t meant to be after all. We may continue to love despite the pain, tears, and heartbreak. maybe because heartbreak causes pain. . Pain makes us stronger… tears make heartbreak and that make us braver and wiser. Looking back, we may have loved the wrong person or cried for the wrong person but no matter how things go wrong, one thing’s for sure.. love is a risk. sometimes you win…. sometimes you lose. whether it’s pain or joy…whether it’s right or wrong, love doesn’t have room for mistakes…only lessons that open our hearts to love even more…
